In Philadelphia, delegates from the thirteen American colonies convene to debate and establish a framework for governance as they seek independence from British rule. Key figures such as John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson engage in intense discussions over the principles and wording that will define the new nation. The Continental Congress serves as the backdrop for these political struggles, where loyalties and convictions are tested.

Amidst the negotiations, Jefferson is tasked with drafting a formal declaration to announce the colonies’ break from Britain. While Adams and Franklin provide guidance and pressure, other representatives, including John Dickinson and Edward Rutledge, voice opposition and demand revisions.
