Ebenezer Scrooge (George C. Scott), a bitter and miserly old man, spends Christmas Eve as he does every year—dismissing the holiday spirit and treating those around him with cruelty and contempt. That night, he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley (Frank Finlay), who warns him to change his ways or face eternal torment. Scrooge is then guided through his past, present, and possible future by three spirits who reveal the impact of his choices on himself and others.
