Irena, a Serbian immigrant living in Manhattan, struggles with a curse that supposedly transforms her into a deadly feline creature whenever she becomes physically intimate with a man she loves. Haunted by this ancestral fate, she keeps herself distant from those who care for her, including Oliver, a zoologist who becomes deeply involved in her life.
