Firedrake, a young dragon, teams up with Ben, a human boy, and Sorrell, a forest brownie, to escape the dangers threatening their world. Together, they set out to find the Rim of Heaven, a legendary sanctuary where dragons can live safely away from human threats. Their journey leads them through enchanted forests and magical realms filled with both allies and enemies.

As they travel, the trio must confront the relentless Nettlebrand, a fierce dragon hunter determined to capture Firedrake. Along the way, they meet other fantastical creatures like Mighty Djinn and Mad Doc who either aid or challenge their mission. The quest tests their courage, friendship, and resolve as they strive to reach a place where dragons can soar without fear.
