Harold, a determined store clerk, arrives in the big city hoping to make a name for himself and impress his sweetheart Mildred. To boost sales at the department store where he works, a climbing contest is announced, challenging participants to scale the outside of a tall downtown building.

When no one else steps forward, Harold finds himself forced to take on the daring climb. As he ascends the towering structure, he faces a series of escalating dangers and unexpected obstacles that test his courage and resourcefulness, all while crowds watch from below.
