When archaeologist Matthew Corbeck (Charlton Heston) leads an excavation in Egypt, he uncovers the sealed tomb of the ancient and powerful Queen Kara. Ignoring warnings about a deadly curse, Corbeck opens the tomb, triggering a chain of ominous events. At the same time, his wife gives birth to their daughter, Margaret (Stephanie Zimbalist), who begins to show disturbing signs of a supernatural connection to the long-dead queen as she grows older.

Years later, strange and violent incidents surround Margaret, and Corbeck becomes convinced that Queen Kara’s spirit has possessed his daughter. Obsessed with completing his work and unlocking the secrets of the past, he descends deeper into madness, risking everything—including his own family—to confront the evil he helped unleash.
