The Black Cauldron (1985) is a dark fantasy adventure that follows Taran, a young pig-keeper who dreams of becoming a great warrior. Set in the mythical land of Prydain, Taran embarks on a perilous quest to prevent the evil Horned King from obtaining the magical Black Cauldron, a powerful artifact capable of raising an undead army. Along the way, he is joined by a motley group of companions, including the princess Eilonwy, the bumbling bard Fflewddur Fflam, and a strange creature named Gurgi. Together, they must find the cauldron before the Horned King can use its dark magic to conquer the world.

This Disney film, loosely based on The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander, marked a departure from the studio’s usual family-friendly tone, incorporating darker themes and more intense scenes. Although it struggled at the box office, The Black Cauldron has gained a cult following over the years for its unique animation style and bold storytelling.
