A group of five friends—Ash (Bruce Campbell), Linda (Betsy Baker), Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss), Scott (Hal Delrich), and Shelly (Sarah York)—travel to a remote cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway. Inside the cabin, they discover the Book of the Dead and a reel-to-reel tape that, when played, releases ancient demonic forces. One by one, the group is possessed by malevolent spirits, leaving Ash to confront the horrors alone as he fights to survive the night and escape the growing evil.

Unfolding in an isolated and terrifying setting, the story uses intense atmosphere, relentless suspense, and gruesome visuals to deliver a tale of supernatural survival and psychological breakdown.
