Two angels, Damiel and Cassiel, silently watch over the people of Berlin, offering comfort without interfering in their lives. Their invisible presence allows them to witness the city’s vibrant energy and the struggles of its inhabitants from a detached vantage point.

When Damiel becomes captivated by Marion, a solitary trapeze artist, he begins to yearn for a mortal existence that would let him experience human sensations and emotions firsthand. Guided by advice from an actor named Peter Falk, Damiel considers the possibility of shedding his angelic form to join the world of the living.
